Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our Kids Karate program.

What should my child wear to their first class?

For the first class, comfortable athletic clothing (t-shirt and sweatpants/shorts) is perfect. If your child continues, we'll provide information on purchasing the proper karate uniform (gi).

How often should my child attend classes?

We recommend 2 classes per week for optimal progress, but we offer flexible scheduling to accommodate busy families. Consistent attendance helps reinforce skills and discipline.

Is martial arts training safe for children?

Yes! Our classes are specifically designed for children's safety. We emphasize control, respect, and proper technique. All instructors are trained in child safety and first aid. Contact is controlled and supervised at all times.

How does the belt system work for children?

We use a colored belt system to track progress and motivate students. Belt testing occurs approximately every 3-4 months, depending on the child's attendance and skill development. Testing focuses on technique, attitude, and effort.

Can parents watch the classes?

Yes! We have a comfortable viewing area where parents can watch classes. We also hold periodic "Parent Watch Weeks" where you can see your child's progress firsthand and even participate in special family classes.
